Design & Graphics Editorial Review
In reviewing "Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 Essentials," the overall customer experience appears to be mixed, reflecting both utility and frustration. Some users found the book a valuable resource for referencing and learning software, especially if they already had some familiarity with 3D modeling programs. They noted that it provided helpful insights into the software, particularly for those who weren't completely new to 3D Max. The affordability of the book compared to other learning resources was also appreciated. However, significant criticisms emerged, especially regarding its approach to teaching. Several readers pointed out that the author often skips over vital introductory material, which could leave beginners feeling lost and overwhelmed. Users suggested that the book’s instruction was confusing, with poor word choice and structure that made following along a chore. Kindle users specifically lamented formatting issues, such as images being misaligned and instruction codes being incorrect, further detracting from the learning experience. The book's inConsistent writing style, attributed to contributions from multiple authors, added to the disjointed feel of the material. Some reviews explicitly advised against using it as a starting point for newcomers to the software, indicating that it might be more beneficial as a supplementary reference once foundational knowledge is established. **
